As soon as she stepped into the office, Chloe knew something was off. The usually bustling space was eerily quiet, with only the occasional sound of fingers typing. Her heart pounded beneath her blouse as she walked to her cubicle, her mind trying to conjure up an explanation for the strange atmosphere.

It wasn't until she caught a glimpse of the conference room that everything became clear. Inside, two of her coworkers, Jake and Maya, were engaged in a heated make-out session. It was a side of them that Chloe had never seen before, and she couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as she watched them.

But as she headed toward the break room, another unexpected sight greeted her. There, leaning against the counter, was David. He wasn't a traditionally attractive man, with his thinning hair and slightly crooked nose, but there was something about him that always got under Chloe's skin.
